Africa Lozano-Yarl advises Posse scholars in their third year and beyond. Prior to her time with Posse, Africa led Academic Coaching to Thrive and Succeed (ACTS), where she supported scholars across a wide range of programs. A two-time Badger, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and her M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A proud TRIO alumna and former student-athlete, Africa is also the first in her family to earn a college degree. Her passion for supporting scholars is deeply rooted in her own journey and her understanding of how access to academic resources, mentorship, and strong support systems can transform a student’s path. She believes that struggles and challenges are part of the journey—not barriers—and that with the right support, students can achieve their goals and pursue their dreams. In her free time, Africa enjoys spending time with her family and her sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.
